Summary:

We are searching for a Staff Accountant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will summarize the financial position of the IDS by recording and analyzing transactions affecting accounts in the general ledger and preparing relevant reports for management.

Responsibilities :

• Records activity assigned to general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and Hospital policies and procedures
• Prepare monthly closing entries for cash, investment and trusteed assets and submit to supervisor for review by established departmental closing deadlines
• Research and respond to basic accounting inquiries posed by all sources
• Work with Treasury and banking sources to resolve any cash and investment discrepancies and to ensure cash and investment activity is appropriately recorded
• Compile reconciliations for annual audits, including financial and regulatory audits
• Perform detailed reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts to relevant subsidiary ledgers and resolves all reconciling items in a timely and efficient manner
• Prepare monthly reports which accurately and materially reflect the financial position of the IDS
• Prepare financial lead sheets in conjunction with annual audits



Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or other financial field of study required
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and a general understanding of the operation of financial information systems (general ledger, timekeeping, payroll, accounts payable, assets, etc.)
• Must have the ability to keep sensitive and confidential information private
