We are searching for a Triage Staff Nurse -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide nursing care for patients over the telephone utilizing the nursing process in accordance with the current American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) Telehealth Nursing Practice Administration and Practice Standards.

Responsibilities :

  • Manages clinical calls using the nursing process
  • Systematically assesses and addresses patients’ needs with decision support tools
  • Provides care advice to caller/patient specific to their needs
  • Using the triage decision support tools and professional judgement, assesses significant date to evaluate the emergency of the call and advises patient on options of referral and/or intervention
  • Supports patient/families in self-management of their health through assisting with education
  • Assists with direct patient care as needed
  • Demonstrates Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families and co-workers


Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • Diploma in nursing, or associate’s degree in nursing or an associate’s degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license required
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required
  • BLS or PALS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • 2 years pediatric experience required
  • 2 years recent clinical experience in a physician office, home health, critical care and/or emergency room preferred
