Summary:

We are searching for a Director of Food & Nutrition Services -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will direct the management operations for Nutrition Services as well as collaborate with food service department to ensure appropriate food service coordination to meet the nutritional needs of our patients, faculty and staff. Provides leadership of the department that supports the goals and mission of the Hospital through strategic planning, budget development and management, and staff development to ensure appropriate allocation of resources. Partners across the system to ensure consistency of care and coordination of efforts.

Additionally, regulatory guidelines, clinical standards of practice and staffing patterns are developed and implemented to ensure the safe and effective delivery of formula and nutritional services in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served.

Responsibilities :

  • Directs departmental operations to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, age-appropriate, cost-effective care and/or service within a family-centered care environment, as measured by variance analysis reports, revenue enhancement/expense reduction, patient satisfaction scores, patient complaints, regulatory compliance, and new programs/initiatives
  • Lead, participate and collaborate with the food services department as well as on interdepartmental teams, work groups and committees that support nutrition management of patients and organizational priorities as measured by outcomes achieved
  • Ensures the provision of effective training and development opportunities for staff and leaders in order to continually improve departmental and organizational performance and develop talent to ensure ongoing departmental success and growth as measured by improved individual, team and departmental performance and a talent management team
  • Ensures the creation of a work climate that fosters employee satisfaction and organizational commitment as measured by employee survey results and turnover rates
  • Develops and implements service/departmental priorities that enhance the organization’s strategic plan, achieves agreed upon outcomes specifically advances evidenced-based practice and patient safety, as measured by outcomes, evidence incorporated into practice, improvements in processes to enhance patient safety, PI initiatives, trends and benchmarks
  • Coordinates standards, protocols, treatment approaches and quality improvement efforts across the system
  • Partners with key physician leaders in the development, refinement, research and implementation of care
  • Serves as the point person for Texas Children’s relationship with partner food vendors – patients & faculty / staff


Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • Master’s degree in Administration, Nutrition, Food and Nutrition Management, or related field required
  • RD certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration required
  • LD license from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians required
  • 5 years management experience required
  • 3 years clinical experience required
