We’re hunting for an Adoption Program Director, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will lead a groundbreaking initiative to provide compassionate support, advocacy and resources for birthparents considering adoption. This role will oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the program, ensuring it aligns with the hospital's mission and values.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advocate for and support birthparents  
  • Provide compassionate, comprehensive support to expectant parents considering adoption, including education, counseling, and emotional support.
  • Serve as a dedicated advocate for birthparents, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met.
  • Develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of adoption as a caring and compassionate option within the hospital community and the broader public.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for OB/GYN physicians, pediatricians, advanced practice providers, nurses and others on adoption practices and Hospital’s approach to birthparent support.
  • Facilitate connections between birthparents and safe, ethical adoption resources and agencies, ensuring they can access comprehensive support.
  • Conducts ongoing research to explore the demographic characteristics and personal experiences of adoptive parents, birth parents, and adopted individuals to support the creation and growth of the adoption program.

 

Skills & Requirements

  • Required bachelor's degree Nursing (BSN) and master's degree in nursing, Business, or a healthcare field  
  • Preferred master's degree in nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Public Health
  • A bachelor's degree in a non-Nursing field is acceptable only when the incumbent has a master's degree in nursing. Incumbents must have a bachelor's and master's Degree, and one of these must be in Nursing.
  • Required RN - Lic-Registered Nurses Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Required 5 years' experience in Adoption Program Coordination, Birthparent Advocacy, and/or Obstetrics Clinical Care
