REQUIRED:
- Associates Degree
- BLS – Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
- CMRT – Certified medical Radiologic Technologist with State of Texas
- R- ARRT- ARRT Registered Technological Radiography
Preferred:
- Bachelor Degree
- MT-AMT – Medical Technologist- AMT
- 2yrs licensed radiology experience
Responsibilities:
- Actively manages workflow in communication with nursing, clinic managers, providers, and other impacted parties.
- Schedules and documents preventative maintenance for equipment. Ensures impact to patients and operations are minimized by thorough timely communication of event with staff, physicians and other critical customers.
- Accurately and independently performs procedures, identifies and resolves issues. Seeks experiences and knowledge in the technical area to gain expertise.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency, and initiates emergency procedures.
- Follows Texas Children’s Hospital, Department and Section specific policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols.
- Documents incidents, variances, unusual circumstances or patient concerns. Completes Safety Scoops for variations from normal practices.
- Ensure environmental rounds are completed at minimum prescribed intervals, and ensure correction occurs.
- Leads efforts for quality and process improvement.
- Ensures the patient is imaged in a safe environment, free of hazards.
- Responsible for training, and development of staff and providers on all new policies, procedures, SOPs.
- Responsible for developing and implementing training schedules and documentation of training.
- Provides feedback to the manager regarding concerns regarding technologists work, performance and conduct so that issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Verifies patient and provider order per practice protocol.
- Positions patient using mechanical immobilization as necessary to to obtain diagnostic image.
- Adjusts lead shields to protect areas not of primary interest.
- Ensures all persons in exam area are using radiation protection.
- Notifies Operations Support Leader, or designee, of needed radiology supplies weekly.
- Works independently and assists team in completing routine and complex portable, STAT, and urgent imaging while demonstrating anatomy and pathology through proper diagnostic scanning
- Confirms patient identity with approved identifiers.
- Demonstrating age appropriate care with all patients, appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
- Processes specimens according to manufacturer instructions.
- Notifies Operations Support Leader, or designee, of needed laboratory supplies weekly.
- Verifies provider order and patient per practice protocol.
- Collects and processes specimen according to manufacturer’s instructions and using proper technique.
- Follows practice protocol in reporting and documenting results.
- Performs and documents scheduled quality control, instrument maintenance and calibration procedures according to manufacturer information.
- Maintains and prepares reagents appropriately and performs and documents required reagent checks, including monitoring of expiration dates.
- Takes appropriate action and documents out of control values per manufacturer guidelines.
- Greets all patients, visitors and staff in a professional, courteous and respectful manner.
- Maintains positive lines of communication with radiologists, leadership, nursing, peers, staff and others.
- Timely and professional responses using to all methods of available communication.
- Sets quality patient care standards during every level of the patient experience.
- Maintains current knowledge on equipment, materials, medications and processes.
- Positions self in challenging situations and responds with confidence, professionalism, and accuracy in the face of multiple demands and shifting priorities.
