Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures the delivery of safe, high quality clinical care and customer service through the collaborative development of appropriate standards of patient care and practice, policy and procedure development, and the development of a competency-based education program for the staff.
- Collaborates with key leadership to provide an environment focused on safety and quality for patients and their families. Accountability
- Develops, directs, and allocates financial resources to ensure adequate human and capital resources to meet patient care needs.
- Ensures the future of the organization through effective development, collaboration, and implementation of operational, clinical, and other key aspects of the strategic plan.
- Participates with governing body, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the organizations decision making structures and process. Fosters effective working relationships with executive and medical leadership to ensure attainment of the key critical success factors for Texas Children’s.
- Develops organization-wide patient care programs (including the organization’s plan for providing nursing care and appropriate policies and procedures) to ensure that patients’ nursing care needs are assessed, evaluated, and met. Ensures that nursing standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice are consistent with current nursing research findings and nationally recognized professional standards.
- Implements ongoing performance improvement programs aimed at assessing, measuring, and improving the quality of nursing care delivered to patients

Skills & Requirements
- Required master's degree in nursing
- Preferred Doctorate Nursing
- Required RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
- Required 5 years Nursing management experience plus three years of acute care pediatric and obstetrics experience preferably in an academic setting
- Knowledge of current nursing theories and concepts, and knowledge of current leadership, management, and quality improvement concepts.
- The ability to evaluate and improve the quality of nursing care, oversee staff development and physician relations, and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
