We’re hunting for an Ambulatory Services Rep I, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will provide excellent customer service as the first contact for patients, providers and staff accessing ambulatory clinics. Will  

expedite the outpatient check-in and check-out processes by reviewing appointment status using electronic appointment system to view information regarding appointment, insurance, and history. Will collect pre-visit payments and communicate with the clinic liaison regarding factors impacting the patient visit and general clinic-patient flow.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Promotes customer service in the clinic.

Welcomes the patient and family and responds to customer questions with prompt information and/or services related to appointment status, wait time, or unanticipated problems.

Informs staff and providers of delays in patient flow outside of clinic.

Proactively approaches dissatisfied customers and implements customer service recovery measures to satisfy displeased customers.

Collaborates with colleagues and supervisors to develop quality service-focused measures to identify clinic issues.

Tracks prolonged wait times for patients in waiting room and investigates cause.

Obtains translation services as needed for customers.

Participates in clinic meetings to assist in planning optimal patient flow for session/day.

Instructs patient/family to retain admissions paperwork until called by clinic staff. Ensures patient/family understands instructions to facilitate clinic visits.

Facilitates the appointment check-in procedure & scheduling.

Processes patient payments.

Obtains signatures on required documents.

Performs order entry and scheduling.  

Completes checkout for patients and families.

Assists with operations for clinical floors.

Skills & Requirements

Required H.S. Diploma or equivalent preferred bachelor's degree

Preferred Experience in a healthcare setting, customer service focused industry, administrative/business, or teaching/training role.
