We’re hunting for a Managing Counsel: Contracts, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will manage the activities and personnel of the Contracts Administration function in the TCHP or TCH Legal Operations Departments and provides legal oversight of the work conducted on the team  Provides planning, direction, management and coordination of contracting personnel and resources in support of Texas Children's mission and vision.  Provides assistance to the  leadership. Management in meeting operational and fiscal objectives through effectively contracting for goods and services.  Manages the activities of the Department, ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place and resources are available to successfully support the contracting process.  A portion of the Manager's time will be spent drafting and negotiating high profile and/or high-dollar contracts.  In this role, this individual will coordinate among necessary institutional departments, draft and oversee contract review and approval processes for selected business arrangements.  Within the Health Plan, this individual will be responsible for the subcontractor filings and corporate filings for TCHP with various state agencies. Provides guidance regarding Texas regulations on corporate law and matters related to governance.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides legal guidance and oversight of contracts team to ensure effectiveness of the Contract Administration Department
  • Answers customer questions regarding the Texas Children’s contracts process in a professional, courteous and timely manner. Maintains positive working relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Drafts/negotiates complex or high-risk contracts. Reviews, negotiates, drafts, and facilitates award for assigned contracts and amendments.
  • Within TCHP, responsible for TCHP’s corporate law requirements, including providing guidance.
  • Performs other duties assigned by leadership
  • Strives to ensure compliance with applicable subcontractor requirements for a Medicaid Managed Care Organization (within TCHP) or strives to achieve the goal of accreditation with commendation (within the Hospital)

Skills & Requirements

  • Required Juris Doctor Degree (JD)
  • License to practice law in the State of Texas is required. If candidate does not have a Texas law license, must have and maintain a license to practice law in another state and get licensed in the State of Texas within 18 months of hire.
  • Required 1 years attorney experience with contracts
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  •  5- 10 years’ experience as a licensed Attorney with a focus on contracts
