We are searching for a Pathology Education Coordinator-- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will coordinate training and competency assessments to new employees, students, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other employees in pathology procedures including laboratory testing, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing (POCT).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science required
  • 3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting required
    • MT-STATE, MT-AAB, MT-AMT, BB-ASCP, C-ASCP, H-ASCP, MLS-ASCP, MT-ASCP, MB-ASCP, MP-ASCP or MT-NCA certification may substitute for one year of experience
    • Master's of Science degree or higher may substitute for two years of experience in a laboratory setting
       

Responsibilities:

  • Develops new employee orientation and training program. Assesses the effectiveness of the training program annually, defines the target completion time for each training module
  • Develops and implements a competency assessment program, reviews the effectiveness of the program annually based on quality assurance data/indicators, and makes changes to the program as needed to ensure the quality of the laboratory testing
  • Coordinates new employee training, develops training tools, assigns competency assessment tools including training modules, exams, checklists, and direct observation tools
  • Develops training modules, exam and checklists for phlebotomy, specimen processing, order entry, laboratory testing, laboratory safety, and general procedures to meet College of American Pathologist/CLIA standards
  • Coordinates and facilitates continuing education events for the staff
  • Maintains expertise by participating in continuing education and in-service programs and by attending section meetings, workshops, and seminars, reads professional publications or attends classes and provides documentation of participation
  • Monitors quality control and quality improvement to identify competency and retraining needs
  • Investigates root causes of quality assurance deficiencies
