We are searching for a Professional Student Nurse – our innovative program provides nursing students the opportunity to begin working under the supervision of an RN to develop clinical competency and confidence in nursing skills prior to transitioning from nursing school to clinical practice.

Qualifications:  

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program
  • Have completed at least one nursing clinical rotation prior to start date
  • Ability to work a minimum of three (3) 12-hour shift per week for 12 weeks, with the opportunity to stay on PRN after those 12 weeks 
  • Required to work every third weekend
  • Preference will be given to candidates entering their final year of nursing school
  • RN License must be obtained within 2 years of entering the role; Attestation required.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates validation of skills as provided on the Universal Professional Student Nurse (PSN) orientation pathway and Skills Progression record to safely care for established patient population as evidenced by supervisor observation.
  • Assists with the collection and documentation of patient/family data.
  • Provides high quality, cost effective patient care in collaboration with the RN and in conjunction with the patient/family.
  • Assists in identifying patient/family response to care provided.
  • Maintains accountability for development of self and participates in development of others.
  • Demonstrates commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Participates in achieving hospital/unit goals
