We are searching for a Research Assistant – The research assistant will participate in research activities which may include: subject recruitment, confirmation of subject eligibility, informed consent process, completion of case report forms, data clarification, IRB preparations and medical record abstraction, data collection. The research assistant may also assist physicians with preparing manuscripts, making presentation slides and posters, conducting literature reviews, updating study databases, and taking photographs in a clinical and operative setting. Manuscript preparation may include: writing, referencing, editing, basic medical illustrating, statistical analysis, creating tables and charts, and preparing submissions for publication.

The Research Assistant is a key member of the Surgical Research Unit in the Department of Surgery. Projects span the breadth of surgical disciplines from Neurosurgery to Orthopedics to ENT and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree required

•  1-year research experience preferred

•  Knowledge of the following may be needed: REDCap and SPSS

Responsibilities

•  Works with designated lead to complete IRB submissions, subject recruitment, data entry and analysis

•  Supports clinical research studies through completion of patient consent and enrollment

•  Supports study coordination in collaboration with the PI

•  Participates in data collection for research projects

•  Assists in development of REDCap database

•  Prepares data analysis tables and figures, and charts necessary for professional data display

•  Coordinates day-to-day activities of the project to ensure all goals are met

•  Completes data collection and data entry activities

•  Maintains data files for projects coordinated by the department

•  Coordinates annual report for department
