We are searching for a Hearing Aid Assistant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will coordinate the technical and clerical aspects of the hearing aid program and assist Audiologists in audiometric testing of children and adults ages 0-21.

Qualifications:

  • Required H.S. Diploma or GED
  • 1-year clerical experience in a clinical setting 
  • Experience working with children preferred 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists audiologists with audiometric testing. Assists the Audiologist in performing audiometric tests on children and adults, both inpatient and outpatient. Prepares work area for audiometric tests to be performed on patients treated by the Audiologist to ensure efficient and prompt service.
  • Oversees the hearing aid/ALD loaner program. Orders and maintains an inventory of new, repaired, and loaner hearing aids. Performs electroacoustic analysis of all hearing aids. Performs minor repairs of hearing aids. Assists in counseling patients for earmolds as requested by the Audiologist.
  • Calibrates and maintains equipment daily and performs minor alterations and repairs. Orders earmolds and maintains an inventory of hearing aid supplies as needed. Performs minor alterations and repairs of the earmolds tubing. Maintains a file of resource and reference materials related to hearing aids for reference and assistive listening devices for use in the daily treatment process.
  • Maintains invoices and expense records for hearing aid purchases[es] and related supplies. Provides coding for pre-cert estimation. Prepares order requisitions and submits immediately to ensure that a necessary supply is always available for clinic activity.
  • Obtain Otolaryngology clearance for hearing aid patients.
  • Communicates with hospital staff, physicians, audiologists, patients, and families in a professional and courteous manner with no more than four documented complaints per year.
  • Scheduling and rescheduling hearing aid appointments, including hearing aid assist appointments and video appointments.
