Texas Children’s Hospital

A Look into Texas Children’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Team

In this insightful video interview, Dr. Grace Johnson and Dr. Carrie Eppes from the Texas Children’s Hospital Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) department share their personal journeys, their work in maternal care, and their experiences with our expansion into Austin.

Dr. Eppes discusses how she found her dream job at Texas Children’s right after her fellowship and the strong bonds she has formed with her colleagues. Dr. Johnson, a native of Austin, talks about her path through Baylor College of Medicine and her excitement about helping launch Texas Children’s new Austin campus, which opened in early 2024. Both doctors reflect on the importance of expanding women’s services and pediatric specialties in the rapidly growing Austin area.

Throughout the conversation, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Eppes emphasize the collaborative and compassionate culture at Texas Children’s that makes it stand out. They share examples of how our hospital’s specialists go the extra mile to provide seamless care for patients, making sure families feel supported every step of the way.

The video also touches on the transformative impact of telemedicine in MFM care, especially in providing access to patients in remote areas. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Eppes explain how this technology has allowed the Austin team to easily collaborate with their colleagues in Houston, offering patients the highest quality of care without the need for extensive travel.

Both doctors bring a deeply personal perspective to their work, shaped by their own experiences as mothers. They discuss how motherhood has influenced their approach to patient care, allowing them to connect with patients on a deeper level and appreciate the challenges families face.
