We are searching for an Ambulatory Services Representative II  at the Woodlands location- someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll make routine decisions include taking action to prevent and reduce customer service complaints that could affect clinic patient flow.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in customer service required
  • Healthcare and/or Pediatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient registration procedures per department process
  • Ensures that all necessary patient forms are provided and filled out for the clinic visit
  • Communicates with patient, staff and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays and clinic processes
  • Alerts clinic staff and providers of any changes or discrepancies in patient’s scheduled appointment
  • Obtains and verifies patient demographic data for each encounter
  • Maximizes collection by reviewing patient notes for amounts quoted during pre-admission process and collects for non pre-admitted services as appropriate
  • References Hospital contractual agreements with insurance companies to obtain authorization for services
  • Verifies insurance benefits and identifies correct plan codes that drive reimbursement (i.e., Capitated allowance vs. per diem or discount of charges.)
  • Schedules new or follow up appointments for patients
  • Confirms patient appointments, verifying patient demographics and insurance information
  • Advises the patient/parent of insurance responsibilities, such as the need to obtain primary care physician referrals if insurance requires them
  • Refers in-depth financial questions to the appropriate staff
  • Ensures that interpreter services are available for patients as needed
  • Coordinates communications in a friendly, professional, and timely manner
  • Communications to include phone calls, pages, faxes, etc. from internal and external customers
